🎂 Showstopper! 🍋 We recently crafted a 6" extra deep lemon drizzle sponge cake that’s as delicious as it is stunning! Filled with tangy lemon curd buttercream, this cake was iced in fondant and skillfully decorated to look just like a barrel. We added a creative twist with realistic-looking 'ice cubes' and mini Kraken rums on top, then hand-painted the whole cake to resemble real wood. 📌 A day in the life of a cake maker & decorator! 🍰🧁🎂 People ask me how long does it take to make a cake ….this lovely cake took 2.5days not including the prep work for models. That includes mixing, cooking, cooling, levelling, filling ( making up buttercream), ganache coatings ( making ganache), carving & shaping, dying icing to the colour chosen, covering, smoothing, dowel cake, stacking….. not including all the little bits like handmade models, flower pots, garden tools, trees & even rocks & edible mud!!! Oh & forgot to mention the thousand bowls of hot water & mountains of washing up! It’s pretty full on most days & NO I can’t do this cake for £50!
